The 12 Ways of Giving

There are a lot of ways to join Interfaith and be a Community Builder. Here are twelve that you may not know of! From donating your change at the end of the month to making a planned legacy gift — it all adds up to sustainability for our mission in this community.

1. DONATE ONLINE

Just go to www.interfaithks.org and click donate. It is easy and secure and only takes a minute.

2. BECOME A COMMUNITY BUILDER SUSTAINING MEMBER

Community Builders give to Interfaith’s general fund to support our mission, and in turn the sustainability of the programs we provide. Just go to www.interfaithks.org/become-a-community-builder and set up a recurring monthly donation. For the cost of a Netflix subscription, you can become a Community Builder and make an ongoing investment in our community.

3. ROUND UP APP - DONATE YOUR “CHANGE”

Make a difference without breaking the bank! The Round Up App allows you to automatically donate the change from your credit or debit card transactions to support our work. Search “Round Up and Donate” in the App Store or Play Store, or go to https://roundup.app/p/interfaithhousing Once you create an account, you do not need to use the app while making a purchase. Just swipe your card as usual. You are in complete control and can cap your maximum monthly donation if desired.

4. FACEBOOK FUNDRAISERS

Did you know that Facebook has done away with its processing fees for charitable donations? That means if you donate $100 to Interfaith on Facebook, Facebook deposits $100 in our account. That is amazing! Almost every other way of giving comes with some sort of processing fee. A great way to grow your impact is to start a fundraiser on your personal Facebook page and ask your friends to join you in supporting our mission. Birthday fundraisers through Facebook are a simple and effective way to make a difference.

5. AMAZON SMILE

Every time you shop at AmazonSmile, Amazon will donate to Interfaith Housing and Community Services, Inc. Setting it up is easy! Just sign in to your Amazon account. Go to smile.amazon.com and search for Interfaith Housing & Community Services, Inc. Click “Select” next to our organization name and check the box on the next page. Then start shopping! Any time you shop on Amazon start at smile.amazon.com and you will earn donations for Interfaith!

6. DILLONS REWARDS

Just register your Shopper Card online at www.dillons.com. Click on “Community Rewards” and search for Interfaith Housing. When you find us, click “Enroll” and that is it! Every time you shop at Dillons and scan your card, we automatically receive a percentage of your purchase!

7. DIP JAR

Want to give an in-person gift but don’t carry cash or checks? Look for our DipJar on our front desk when you drop by or at events or booths we are hosting! There is a preset amount displayed on the jar, and all you do is dip your card to donate! No pin, no form, no hassle. Easy peasy!

8. A MISSION AT HOME

What about giving time? A Mission at Home is an initiative to encourage local churches and civic organizations who may already do annual mission trips to invest that time in Hutchinson — not only creating an influx of volunteer hours to address the needs of our community, but also to create better cooperation, understanding and civic pride. If your group is interested in participating in A Mission at Home, please call Rebekah 620-662-8370 or email rebekahk@interfaithks.org for more information.

9. IRA DISTRIBUTION

If you are 70-1/2 or older, it is possible to get a tax benefit from charitable contributions even if you don’t itemize deductions. You can donate all or part of your required minimum distribution to a qualified charity, such as Interfaith, and not include it in your taxable income. (The distribution needs to be made directly from the IRA to the charity.)*

10. STOCK OR APPRECIATED ASSET

Instead of giving cash, people with investments in stocks, bonds and other securities they’ve held for at least one year can donate those that have appreciated in value. This can result in significant income-tax savings. In fact, donating stock can save even more taxes than donating cash, since there is no capital gains tax when appreciated securities are given to a nonprofit.*

11. BUNCHED GIFTS

With the increase in the standard tax deduction, some who have itemized in the past may not be able to this year. Bunching is a way that you might be able to still receive a tax benefit from your gift by combining multiple years of giving into one larger gift. Please visit with your tax adviser to see if this is a good option for you.*

12. JOIN THE CORNERSTONE SOCIETY

You can continue to support Interfaith and our mission while creating a lasting community legacy by making a planned or deferred gift to Interfaith. This could be in the form of a will or bequest, a charitable remainder trust, IRA, life insurance, charitable gift annuity, donor advised fund, etc. For more information and to join the Interfaith Cornerstone Society, please contact Rebekah at 662-8370.

*Since your unique tax situation determines your benefits, please consult your tax or financial adviser for insights into your tax circumstance and to see if this form of giving makes sense for you. This information is for general and educational use only and not intended as tax or legal advice.
